I bring a fresh perspective and practical approach, grounded in academic research, to inspire creative thinking and action in individuals and teams. As a human scientist, I’m curious and passionate about human potential, and about discovering how people and cultures can grow to become their better selves..
My approach to leadership, strategic thinking and complex problem solving:
-Any discussion must include the whole, not just the parts.
-Creativity reaches the core of who we are. It is the juice of life.
-Organizational innovation happens when individuals working together as a team are cohesive and respectful.
-Ultimately the people - the staff and the customer are the focus.
I resigned my position at Hyperion Solutions to fulfill a dream of backpacking solo around the world. I was in first group granted permission by the Chinese government to hike and camp on non-tourist sections of The Great Wall. I rode a camel named “Joan” into the Australian outback and slept outdoors in a swag under the night sky. In Ubud, Bali, I participated in a ceremonial parade and witnessed a cremation ritual. At Wat Suan Mokkh in Thailand, I learned about Buddhist philosophy and the art of avoiding ripened, falling coconuts from an English-speaking Thai ex-businessman monk . With John Perkins and his group Dream Change Coalition, I traveled to Ecuador to visit the Birdpeople of the Andes and the Shuar of the Amazon rainforest.
I’ve enjoyed studying:
Positive psychology with Dr. Ben Tal-Shahar, Harvard; Human Science with a Creativity concentration with Drs. Steve Pritzker and Ruth Richards for my Ph.D.; Ancient wisdom teachings with Sobonfu Some from the Indigenous Dagara tribe in Burkina Faso; Intuition with Jennifer Halls; and Human capacities development and innovative leadership strategies with Dr. Jean Houston.
